COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course teaches students how to work in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, providing care and support to people with physical or intellectual disabilities as well as their families.

It has a specialised application, especially suited to those already working in facility based, residential care or private home care. It is designed specifically for those who wish to build on existing skills and progress their careers in Team Leader, Management and Supervisory capacities.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed 120 hours of clinical placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

What you’ll learn

?Disability services are an integral part of healthcare and are designed to improve the health, wellbeing and independence of individuals living with a disability as well as enabling them to participate in social activities and develop life skills.

The course will cover:

Course structure

There are 14 units to be completed during this course – 11 core and 3 elective units, in accordance with the packaging rules.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 18 years or above
  • Completion of High School (Year 12); or equivalent qualification/s
  • Academic IELTS 5.5 overall
