Information technology is a dynamic industry, with growing demand for key technical skills becoming more prevalent across a variety of sectors. Seize your opportunities for career progression in IT with a qualification from RMIT.
In the Diploma of Information Technology you will be guided by experienced teachers with extensive IT industry experience to develop a project portfolio designed to help launch a career in IT.
As part of your study, you will learn how to:
create a web-based solution for a client
develop mobile applications
apply project management skills to an IT project.
Gain hands-on experience with real industry clients and graduate with the skills to manage and deliver successful IT projects from start to finish.
Through RMIT’s Diploma of Information Technology you will develop specialised IT knowledge in programming, web development – such as PHP and content management systems – operating systems, networking, database modelling and implementation. RMIT will also help you develop enterprise skills maximise employment success.
Career
Employment outcomes for IT graduates vary depending on the level of qualification. In the vocational education sector, 83.7 per cent of diploma graduates are employed six months after graduation. This diploma also offers graduates a pathway to more specialised studies, opening up additional career paths in information technology and related industries.
Employment for ICT professionals is anticipated to grow strongly between now and November 2018. Graduates should take advantage of opportunities to advance and/or specialise in a wide range of technologies and be prepared to continue training throughout their career to remain industry relevant.

Further study
You are guaranteed entry to the Associate Degree in Information Technology with 8 course credits (equivalent to 96 credit points) when you successfully complete the Diploma of Information Technology.
