COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification reflects the trade qualified role of a bricklayer, block layer or paver who may have responsibility for undertaking heritage bricklaying, refractory bricklaying, bricklaying, block laying and paving work in residential, industrial and commercial contexts, in both existing and new constructions.
The bricklaying, block laying and paving industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered and assessed in this context.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements vary between states. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 18 years of age.
Academic Requirements:
Successful completion of Year 10, (High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent) OR a Certificate II or equivalent OR be a mature age (20 years of age and above).
English Requirements:
It is essential that international students must exhibit a strong command of the English language. Undertaken one of the following English Language Tests and met the minimum score.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test must have scored 40 or higher.
Pearson Test of English (PTE) must have scored 38 or higher.
Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) ESOL test must have score 154 or higher.
Evidence that English is the medium of instruction at the student’s school and has been for the last two (2) years. The student has a satisfactory grade in the language.
