COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

Vocational outcome:

Occupational titles suited to our choice of electives may include:

  • Automotive Heavy Vehicle Master Technician
  • Automotive Master Technician
  • Automotive Mechanical Overhaul Technician
  • Performance Vehicle Technician

Course structure

Our course has been designed to meet the requirements for the AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis. It contains 10 units of competency as follows:

1 core units
9 elective units

Assessments

Students are required to complete a range of tasks as part of the assessment requirements for each unit. Assessments methods may include:

  • Written Assessment
  • Practical Demonstration of Task
  • Case study
  • Project / Assignment
  • Role Play / Presentation
  • Portfolio / Work Placement / Third Party Report

Within the Projects there may be a number of tasks and methods used to gather evidence of competency such as:

  • Web based research and reports
  • Scenarios and case studies
  • Practical demonstrations observed by the Assessor
  • Simulations
  • Presentations observed by the Assessor

Course completion

Upon successful completion of all the required units of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification in AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis. Students who do not complete all required units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of a AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.

Pathways

Under mutual recognition, the Qualification or Statement of Attainment awarded by Skyline International College will be recognized by other RTOs Australia wide. Upon successful completion of this course, students may choose to study:

  • AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology. or
  • An undergraduate degree at universities or higher education providers that are willing to accept your credentials and experience (subject to higher education providers course entry requirements).

REQUIREMENTS

Those undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis MUST have completed AUR30616 or AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency

Academic Requirements:

  • Minimum completion of Australian Year 12 secondary school education equivalent or above.

English Language Requirements:

  • Academic IELTS 6 overall, no less than 5.5 in each band, or upper intermediate, or EAP from approved ELICOS/ESL centre.
    Participants will be made aware that this course requires physical tasks including manual handling such as inventory and using heavy equipment’s in a mechanical workshop setting.
