COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification defines the skills and knowledge required of an engineering tradesperson – fabrication within metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries. The qualification has been specifically developed to meet the needs of apprentices in the above trade.
The skills associated with this qualification are intended to apply to a wide range of fabrication work, including undertaking metal fabrication, structural steel erection, sheet metal work, welding, blacksmithing and surface finishing.
This qualification is designed to provide an industry recognised skills profile related to trade work as an Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication.

Students exiting this qualification may choose to progress with further studies by undertaking the following qualification:
MEM40119 Certificate IV in Engineering
REQUIREMENTS
All students must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrolment.
Students must have completed High School (or equivalent)
All students must register their USI
The students must have good computer skills (including WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint and Internet to search for information)
English Language Proficiency
This course is delivered and accessed in English. The students must have LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy) Skills for the level of course.
Students must provide current (test date less than 2 years) and valid proof of English language proficiency by any of the following tests:
IELTS (International English language testing system) minimum overall score 6.0
PTE (Pearson Test of English) minimum overall score 50
TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language – Internet based test) minimum overall score 64
C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English – Advanced CAE) minimum overall score 169
OET (Occupational English Test) minimum overall score 350
