Course learning outcomes

On successful completion of this Course students will be able to:

Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis: Define and integrate theoretical principles applicable to Business, Technology, Analysis and Analytics and apply those principles to inform and improve practice in a range of industry contexts

Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis: Systematically review and critically evaluate research from a variety of sources in order to make informed judgements on options for innovatively solving a range of Business, Technology, Analysis and Analytics problems that arise in business contexts

Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis: Apply critical thinking, reflection and judgment in the selection and application of the appropriate IS/IT related theories, frameworks and/or methods as part of the process to identify and propose solutions to organisational problems

Bachelor of Business Analytics and Analysis: Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of the professional and ethical issues, dilemmas, and cultural sensitivities pertaining Business, Technology, Analysis and Analytics professional in a range of environments

Career opportunities

The growing demand for IS professionals who can provide business analytics and business analysis expertise while showing an aptitude towards the organisational environment and the ability to communicate with the business users, means that graduates of this degree can enjoy career opportunities in the professional fields of business analysis, business analytics, solution architecture, project management, or other fields where business analytics and business analysis-requisite skills and knowledge are highly valued. The course also provides individuals with the requisite academic knowledge and skills to undertake further learning at higher levels such as Honours, Graduate Certificate, or Masters (by coursework) within the field of business analytics and business analysis and/or an area closely related to IS/IT. Pairing this with innovation capabilities roles may extend to Innovation Consultant, Innovation Lead, Innovation Analyst, Strategic Designer, Creative Producer, Start-up Founder, Human-Centred Researcher, Self-employed Entrepreneur, Product Manager, Transformation Lead, Innovation Strategist and Innovation Manager. The course also provides individuals with the requisite academic knowledge and skills to undertake further learning at higher levels such as Honours, Graduate Certificate, or Masters (by coursework) within the field of IS/IT and/or business.

REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification.

Completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including Certificates IV (completed), Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Associate Degrees and Degrees).

Applicants without a formal qualification may be considered for entry upon completion of the STAT test.

English language requirements

Satisfactory completion of one of the following:

  • Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65%
  • IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no communicative skills less than 50)
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based) -79 (no less than 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 18 in speaking 21 in writing)
  • C1 Advanced – 176, no band less than 169
  • Or equivalent measures available at English language requirements.
