COURSE DESCRIPTION
Accelerate your career in the fashion industry with this dual certificate 3 and diploma level qualifications from TAFE Queensland. This course will give you the specialised skills and knowledge to flourish within the design, manufacturing, wholesale or retail areas of the fashion industry.
According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service, the number of people working as fashion, industrial and jewellery designers has seen very strong growth in the past few years. Growth in the sector is expected to remain steady with around 4,000 job openings expected over the next five years.
This course gives you the advanced skills to work independently or collaboratively within a constantly evolving sector. You will also develop an advanced understanding of design processes and product development, as well as technical production skills to support management and fashion businesses.
TAFE Queensland’s fashion training centres are the ideal place for you to launch your fashion career. Equipped with numerous sewing machines, overlockers, computer labs and cutting rooms; everything you need is at your fingertips to bring your creations to life and ready to hit the runway. TAFE Queensland graduates have gone on to create or work for a host of successful labels including Billabong, Marc Jacobs, Easton Pearson and Black Milk Clothing.
Successful completion of this course will give you the necessary skills and attributes to seek employment as a fashion designer and stylist, dressmaker, machinist, tailor, fashion accessories designer and fashion retailer. Completion also provides great articulation opportunities into higher education courses.

REQUIREMENTS
Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
International students who are under 18 years of age and are applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place.
Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other; iBT score of 46 with 8 in Reading /7 in Learning and 18 in writing /16 in speaking; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall score of 42 with Reading /Learning /writing /speaking score of 36; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 162.

The TAFE Queensland network is made up of six regions delivering training from Thursday Island to the Gold Coast, from Bundaberg to Roma and across the south-east corner. From the vast roster of courses, international students can choose to apply to over 170 courses in subjects as varied as Accounting, Electronics, Beauty Therapy and Commercial Cooking.
