COURSE DESCRIPTION

Kick start your career as a hairdresser with this entry-level qualification. This course is an essential minimum requirement for every hairdresser.

According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service, hairdressing skills are in demand with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. The industry is currently experiencing strong growth with more than 31,000 job openings expected over the next five years.

Learn modern salon operations including how to colour and lighten hair, provide shampoo and basin services, and how to design and cut hair. All of this will take place in the classroom and real functioning professional salon environments.

Successful completion of this course will provide you all you need to confidently seek employment opportunities in hairdressing.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion..

International students who are under 18 years of age and are applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place.

Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other; iBT score of 46 with 8 in Reading /7 in Learning and 18 in writing /16 in speaking; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall score of 42 with Reading /Learning /writing /speaking score of 36; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 162.

The TAFE Queensland network is made up of six regions delivering training from Thursday Island to the Gold Coast, from Bundaberg to Roma and across the south-east corner. From the vast roster of courses, international students can choose to apply to over 170 courses in subjects as varied as Accounting, Electronics, Beauty Therapy and Commercial Cooking.
