COURSE DESCRIPTION
Workplace negotiation can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to equal confrontation. This micro-credential is ideal for leaders and professionals from any sector who want to become skilled negotiators who get great outcomes and strengthen working relationships. Analyse workplace negotiation scenarios: Critically analyse conflict and negotiation situations in the workplace, including the mix of distributive and integrative issues, and identify effective responses to them. Explore how to deploy strategies within dynamic situations. Diagnose situations and plan for negotiation: Examine how to diagnose situations that can generate workplace conflict and consider how best to prepare for negotiation and conflict management. Explore principles and tools for understanding the negotiation situation, and how to customise your negotiation tactics and strategy. Design deals that work for all parties: Learn how to generate solutions to conflict and design interest-based deals that maximise value for all parties. Use clear and actionable leadership principles and tactics to ensure agreed outcomes can be executed following the negotiation. Develop confidence in your negotiation skills: Gain confidence in your negotiation practice and skills through experience, via case analysis, negotiations simulations and negotiation role-plays. Ensure you have the skills and knowledge to negotiate effectively and ethically. Explore theories and models that enhance collaboration: Reflect upon theories and models to evaluate new ways to engage with superiors, peers and subordinates in ways that promote collaboration, co-operation, and enhance productivity.
Skills and learning outcomes: By the end of this course, you’ll be able to: Critically analyse conflict and negotiation situations in the workplace, including the mix of distributive and integrative issues and identify effective responses to them; Generate solutions to resolve conflicts and negotiate interest-based agreements through clear and actionable leadership principles and tactics drawn from an understanding of negotiation theory and evidence; Develop confidence in negotiation practice and skills through experience, via case analysis, negotiations simulations and negotiation role plays; Reflect upon theories and models to evaluate new ways to engage with superiors, peers and subordinates in ways that promote collaboration, co-operation, and enhance productivity.
