COURSE DESCRIPTION

If you are passionate about the field of biomedicine then this Bachelor’s degree ticks all the boxes. Completed in three years of full-time study, this degree provides a gateway to a rewarding career in a range of health-related fields. Over the course of your studies you will gain a strong understanding of advanced scientific investigations that will prepare you for a career as a biochemist, researcher or biomedical scientist.

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science consists of a prescribed series of courses designed to develop a range of theoretical and practical skills. The course includes a general introduction to biological science, plus coverage of such topics as anatomy, molecular and cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, pathology, human physiology, immunology, neuroscience, and reproductive biology. In addition to the specific scientific knowledge gained through in-depth study, the degree aims to develop the capacity to understand and apply modern scientific principles to both scientific and non-scientific audiences and to critically analyse information.

The program is delivered using a number of teaching platforms including workshops, seminars and discussions. Furthermore, a six-week (150 hour) industry placement will allow you to apply your new skills in range of professional settings, such as medical laboratories and research facilities.

Plan, implement and undertake scientific methodology and experimentation.
Apply research skills to critically appraise the scientific literature.
Analyse, evaluate and interpret scientific data and effectively communicate results in written and oral presentations.
Demonstrate leadership, responsibility and a collaborative approach to teamwork in the Biomedical profession.
Integrate and apply professional knowledge and interpersonal skills gained through work integrated learning during professional practicum experiences.
Articulate objective and universal truth, appreciate the intrinsic dignity of the human person, and exhibit good intellectual, moral and theological habits.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet High school qualifications (or equivalent) to apply for undergraduate program. Academic minimum entry requirements for international applicants vary from country to country.

IELTS (Academic) – 6.5 overall, with no writing score lower than 6.5 and no other individual band score lower than 6.0; CAE/CPE – 176 overall, with no score lower than 176 in writing and no other band score lower than 169; PTE Academic – 58 overall, with no score lower than 58 in writing and no other band score lower than 50; TOEFL (iBT) – 84 overall, with no score lower than 22 in writing and no other band score lower than 17.
