COURSE DESCRIPTION
Information technology (IT) and computing increasingly define how the world operates. Software permeates every area of modern living, from the smallest personal device to automating entire industries. IT professionals are responsible for designing the software that runs so much of our lives, and for creating systems that handle and analyse incredible amounts of data.
Course aims
The Bachelor of Information Technology enables students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the field, fostering the development of technical skills and critical thinking necessary to solve complex problems in the digital field. The course is aimed at practically-oriented students but has a significant body of knowledge in common with the Bachelor of Computer Science to enable students to move between the two degrees. The core elements of the degree compactly cover the essential body of knowledge for computing graduates, including skills in a variety of programming languages. Majors within the degree develop students’ skills within their chosen specialism, whether that be software development, the design of systems that collect and analyse data from the physical world, or more general roles in the design and governance of information systems.

REQUIREMENTS
For direct admission into undergraduate courses offered by UNE you must have completed an educational qualification considered to be at least equivalent to completion of Year 12 in Australia. Entry requirements vary from country to country
An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50;

The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
