COURSE DESCRIPTION

Neuroscience is one of the fastest growing areas of study in human physiology, and there is increasing interest in the use of neuroscience to understand how people behave in business settings. Within a framework of business theory and practice, graduates of this program will have been given the opportunity to understand how the brain works to maintain human behaviour, how people make decisions, and the ways that research and theory in neuroscience can contribute to better business practice.

The Master of Neuroscience and Business aims to provide students with the opportunity to study Neuroscience and Business at postgraduate level, with particular relevance to a range of settings. It will produce graduates with specialised knowledge of the specific neurobiological processes that underlie learning and behaviour within business settings.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, graduates will be able to:

1. demonstrate, through their own study and practice, advanced knowledge of neuroanatomy, cellular function within the human brain, and how these may impinge upon a range of human behaviour within business settings;

2. utilise cognitive and communication skills, tools and digital technologies to communicate appropriately and persuasively with a range of professionals working in a business setting;

3. demonstrate a well-developed ability to use creativity and judgement in analysing neurobiological processes as they relate to human behaviour in business, and to focus those abilities to everyday issues in business;

4. demonstrate postgraduate-level skills analysing information and evaluating evidence based practice/research drawn from a range of sources, reports, organisations and data sets within business settings;

5. demonstrate and apply an advanced ability to critically evaluate and formulate proposals for undertaking research regarding neurological processes in business settings; and

6. demonstrate a preparedness to pursue a specialised knowledge and understanding to enhance professional skills and research in the general field of business neuroscience.

REQUIREMENTS

Rule A: You have completed a Bachelor qualification (AQF Level 7 or overseas equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Rule B: You have completed a Graduate Certificate (AQF Level 8 or overseas equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Rule C: You have completed a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours (AQF Level 8 or overseas equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

Rule D: You have a minimum of three years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) relevant professional experience and training undertaken in the past ten years.

An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50.

The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
