COURSE DESCRIPTION

Using science to understand how people think, feel and behave

This program is for those who are interested in using science to understand people. Be inspired to build new knowledge and discover new things using a variety of scientific methods.

Be part of a high achieving cohort and learn from working in a multidisciplinary environment targeted to using scientific methods to addressing key social problems. The program is designed to give you the skills that employers are seeking, extend your knowledge and deepen your scientific reasoning and critical thinking through advanced coursework and a major project.

Deepen your understanding of theoretical methodologies with opportunities to take part in work integrated and project-based learning. Develop valuable connections with industry and other professionals to improve employment outcomes when you graduate. This fascinating and evolving field will prepare you to work in a broad range of industries where you can positively impact the lives of others.

Course overview

This degree includes a wide range of subject areas. Throughout the degree, you will example the influences on behaviours and personality, the biological basis of behaviour and the mechanisms of behaviour including emotions, perception, learning and memory.

Psychology graduates work in research, human resources and leadership, management, intelligence agencies, advertising, marketing and sales, health support services, counselling, law and correctional services.

Postgraduate pathways available for graduates who also complete the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences (Honours) degree include the research and Clinical PhD, Master of Clinical Psychology, Master of Professional Psychology, Master of Business Psychology, Master of Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing and other psychology-related programs.

If you wish to practice as a psychologist, you must complete additional postgraduate studies.
