This course complies with both Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) licensing regulations and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). This means that on successful completion of the course you will be awarded the following:
Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating)
CASA Instrument Rating
CASA Multi-Engine Class Rating
Course Content
To be awarded the Diploma of Aviation, students must complete the 13 core units of competency listed as part of the AVI50219 training package found here, as well as the following elective unit:
AVIY0045 Conduct a 3D instrument approach
Outcomes
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the nationally recognised AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating). You will also be issued a CASA Instrument Rating and Multi-Engine Class Rating.
Delivery
This course is currently delivered on a full-time basis.
REQUIREMENTS
For entry into this Diploma course, the following prerequisites must be met:
Hold an Australian PPL or CPL.
50 hours cross-country Pilot in Command time.
5 hours night flying, including at least 1 hour solo night circuits.
Hold at least a CASA Class 2 medical certificate.
Have passed the IREX (Instrument Rating Exam). The college regularly conducts IREX theory courses.
