Course Information
This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing.
Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team
Completing this qualification may lead to careers such as;
- Behavioural support officer
- Disability officer – day support
- Residential care officer
- Disability support officer / worker
- Senior personal care assistant
- Employment coordinator (disability)
- Social educator
- Lifestyle support officer
Delivery and Assessment
Training and assessment is conducted in the classroom as well as in practical labs when required to simulate real work environment. Students are also expected to conduct self-study during the duration of the course.
Assessments comprise of project, observation and written work
Pathways from the qualification
After achieving CHC43115 Certificate IV in Disability, individuals could progress to undertake studies CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services (This course program is not available at Windsor College Australia).
REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must be 18 years or older at the commencement of their course
– English language proficiency of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
– Satisfactorily completed year 12 or equivalent
