COURSE DESCRIPTION

Advance your career in healthcare with this higher-level qualification. The health sector is experiencing strong job growth and this course will give you the specialised skills you need to gain employment as an anaesthetic technician.

You will be able to confidently assist the anaesthetist in preparing the client for their anaesthetic, this will include checking and maintaining the anaesthetic machine, preparing anaesthetic medications, monitoring clinical measurements, assisting with airway management techniques and anticipating and responding to any anaesthetic emergency.

Our highly-experienced industry health professionals will guide you every step of the way to ensure your transition into the health sector is a success.

We have our own designated learning space with state-of-the-art anaesthetic machines, vital signs monitors, difficult intubation equipment, and simulator mannequins, which will prepare you for real-world situations while under the supervision of industry professionals.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning. University pathways

If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.

International students who are under 18 years of age and are applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place.

Academic IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5) or ISLPR 3 on all skills or other; iBT score of 60 with 13 in Reading /12 in Learning and 21 in writing /18 in speaking; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall score of 50 with Reading /Learning /writing /speaking score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 169.

TAFE Queensland is the biggest provider of further education and vocational training courses in Queensland. On an average, every year more than 180,000 students complete a course at TAFE Queensland. The TAFE Queensland network is made up of six regions delivering training from Thursday Island to the Gold Coast, from Bundaberg to Roma and across the south-east corner. From the vast roster of courses, international students can choose to apply to over 170 courses in subjects as varied as Accounting, Electronics, Beauty Therapy and Commercial Cooking.
