COURSE DESCRIPTION

A Diploma of Business (Event Management) provides you with the business skills needed to run large-scale events. Learn from Torrens University’s industry experts. Produce and execute creative and innovative concepts in business environments. Graduate ready for an exciting career managing major events.

This event management course has been designed to provide you with a broad base of generalist skills and knowledge covering events, communication, marketing and management over eight core subjects. The course is available on campus or online so you can tailor your course to suit your lifestyle. Upon completion, you have the opportunity to move into a Bachelor of Business to earn a full event management degree.

Learning outcomes

Develop a grounding in event management business practices.

Understand how to successfully manage large-scale cultural and social activities.

Learn the art of promotion and how it directly ties into the success of an event.

Build awareness of legal requirements and other logistical issues.

Undertake 50 hours of industry experience.

Career opportunities

You will graduate with the know-how to run large-scale events professionally and successfully, working behind the scenes and on the day to make everything run smoothly. You can also further your studies by taking your credits into a Bachelor of Business, where you can specialise in Event Management, Marketing, Sports, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality Management or Hotel Management.

REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent;

OR

Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent Senior Secondary qualification, or baccalaureate Diploma;

AND

Academic IELTS 5.5 (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent.

OR alternative entry requirements may be available. Alternative entry may include assessment and approval of prior study, or successful completion of a readiness assessment.
