COURSE DESCRIPTION

In Australia we offer our international students a AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) as the quickest and most direct route to a career in aviation. This intensive course is approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and has been designed in conjunction with industry to ensure that upon completion you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge you need to fly as a professional pilot. Pilots with a Commercial Pilot Licence work in a diverse range of industry sectors – from agriculture and tourism to aerial surveillance and passenger transport.

This intensive course is approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and has been designed in conjunction with industry to ensure that upon completion you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge you need to fly as a professional pilot. Pilots with a Commercial Pilot Licence work in a diverse range of industry sectors – from agriculture and tourism to aerial surveillance and passenger transport.

This course includes both flight training and theory training – that means you will master the practical while engaged with the theoretical.

Theory training for this course covers:

aerodynamics
operations, performance and flight planning
aircraft general knowledge
navigation
meteorology
flight rules and air law
human factors

150 hour course* option:

The integrated program is full time and covers both theory and flight training in-house.
You will complete a minimum of 150 hours flying which includes at least:

70 hours as pilot in command (PIC)
20 hours cross country as pilot in command (PIC)
10 hours instrument flight time (IF)

*Course must be completed within 2 years from course commencement.

200 hour course* option:

The non integrated program consists of the same format as the integrated program except that:
Theory can be completed as home study (domestic only)
The course can be completed on a part time basis, hence duration may vary (domestic only)
International students have the option of enrolling onto the 200 hour course which may aid in meeting overseas regulatory requirements when converting the CASA licence. For more information please contact the Airways Aviation team.

You will complete a minimum of 200 hours flying which includes at least:

100 hours pilot in command (PIC)
10 hours instrument flight time (IF)

*Course must be completed within 2 years from course commencement.

REQUIREMENTS

17 years of age upon enrolment, 18 years of age to sit a flight test
international students:

a pass in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall grade of 6.0 or equivalent with no band score below 5.5.
completion of Year 12 English at an Australian school or college, or equivalent

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

Chopperline Flight Training, a private institution, offers theory and flight training for both aeroplanes and helicopters. CFT was established in 1977 as the City and Country Helicopters Pty Ltd and it operates out of Bankstown in New South Wales. The courses and licences offered by the School include helicopter commercial licence, helicopter private licence, fixed wing commercial licence, fixed wing private licence, helicopter instructor rating, helicopter aerial work, crew resource management course, basic gas turbine course, spinning endorsement aeroplane, retractable undercarriage, twin engine training and many more.
