COURSE DESCRIPTION

If you are a qualified dentist, this degree will provide you with an avenue to pursue high-level studies and develop advanced clinical skills.

This program is offered with the following majors:

  • Endodontics
  • Periodontics

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry is an AQF Level 9 Masters Extended degree.

Professional recognition

Graduates of this program will be eligible to apply for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) subject to meeting any additional requirements that may be stipulated by the Dental Board of Australia. As these requirements may change from time to time, students should contact AHPRA to confirm registration requirements.

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

This program will be delivered full-time, on-campus (at the Gold Coast) with some clinical experience in the outplacement facilities of the School.

All students will be required to participate in one undergraduate teaching session per week. Undergraduate teaching is an important component of postgraduate coursework degrees as it facilitates the ability of postgraduate students to deepen and widen their understanding of a dental specialty by being placed in a position where they have to transfer knowledge in a clear and concise manner to more junior colleagues. However, in sensitivity to the relative large workloads that postgraduate students have, their involvement in such teaching will be limited.

Students will be encouraged to attend continuing education courses of relevance to their area of study both locally and nationally. Once sufficiently senior, they may contribute to Griffith CPD provision for general practitioners. Occasional attendance at international congresses will be encouraged at the student’s own expense or subsidised on occasion by industry or grants.
