COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification is designed to provide students with industry-recognised skills and knowledge to gain trade outcomes as a motor mechanic. Students will learn how to identify automotive faults, carry out diagnostic procedures and inspect and service vehicles and their various mechanical components.

International students will have the opportunity to complete the program on campus through practical training and assessment and on-the-job placements.
Opportunity exists for 18-month post-study work visa. This makes the student job-ready.

Students will develop their skills that are in demand through practical and hands-on work in a simulated workplace environment. They will have the opportunity to learn how to diagnose faults and carry out mechanical and electrical repair of modern vehicle systems.

Students will learn about:

Workplace safety in an automotive workplace

Identifying automotive faults

Servicing operations

Diagnostic procedures

Using and maintaining tools

Testing and repairing basic electrical circuits

Diagnosing and repairing various mechanical components and systems – steering, suspension, brakes, engines, emission control systems.

Automotive Heavy Diesel Fuel Technician

Diesel Engine Technician

Forklift technician

Light Vehicle Mechanical Technician

Motorcycle Repair Technician

Further Progression: Students can progress onto the next level of qualification within the college.

We offer the following qualifications:

AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis

AUR40820 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling

or other relevant qualifications

Credits may also include units of competency contained within relevant skill sets and statements of attainment.

REQUIREMENTS

This qualification may be accessed by direct entry.

English Requirements:

IELTS band score of 5.5 (academic test version) or;

TOEFL PBT score of 530 or;

TOEFL CBT score of 197 or;

TOEFL IBT overall score 71 ( No band less than 70) or;

equivalent internationally recognised exam result in line with Department of Home Affairs.
