COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification provides a trade outcome in wall and floor tiling for residential and
commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency
requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as the
specialist field of work, wall and floor tiling. Tilers work with materials like ceramic, glass, slate, marble and clay. They cut these materials and lay tiles on walls and floors, both
interior and exterior. They may also add decorative touches to their basic work.
Occupational titles may include:
• Tiler
• Wall and Floor tiler.
State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or
certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be
consulted to confirm those requirements
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe
Work Australia model Code of Practice.
PATHWAYS
Once students have successfully completed CPC31320 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling, they can apply for various roles across management positions that have supervisory performance accountabilities.
The further study pathways available to students who undertake this qualification include:
• CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building),
• CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), or
• Range of Certificate IV or Diploma level qualifications with the CPC Training Package.
COURSE STRUCTURE:
A total of 20 Units (17 Core and 3 electives) must be completed and deemed competent to achieve the qualification CPC31320 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling. Participants who achieve competency in any unit/s will receive a Statement of Attainment (provided USI is verified) for that unit/s without completing all 20 units in the qualification. Students completing all the required units of competency will attain full qualification.
REQUIREMENTS
There is no pre-requisites or specific entry requirement for this qualification. This
course is available to all international students and Nortwest Pty Ltd. requires that
students are able to provide evidence that they:
• Have demonstrated an IELTS level at score of least 5.5 or equivalent (test results
must be no more than 2 years old) or demonstration of successful completion of at
least General English at Upper Intermediate or English for Academic Purposes Upper
Intermediate level.
• Have a suitable level of language, literacy and numeracy to complete course
requirements with or without additional support that Nortwest Pty Ltd. is able to
provide.
• Must be a proficient user of advanced calculators.
• Have successfully completed Australian year 10 or equivalent or must be of matured
age with adequate LLN skills.
• Are at least at age of 18 on the date of course commencement.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
Nortwest College is an educational provider based out of Brookvale and Sydney. It offers programs in business, management, marketing, project management and website development from certificates up to diploma and advanced diploma level. The college uses industry representatives to keep its curriculum updated and relevant. Its training focuses on gaining real experience with industry benchmark.
