COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) gives you the necessary skills to become an integral part of the global digital revolution.

In this course, you will develop a range of programming skills to create technical documents, write scripts for applications, use common programming languages, build a user interface and test applications. You’ll also gain an understanding of mobile development using the React Native environment that is used to develop mobile applications.

TAFE NSW provides industry-standard software so you can develop your skills using the same technology as the industry. Our graduates pursue careers as analysts, web programmers, and ICT technical officers.

Through a mix of theory and practical coursework, learn to:

  • Use introductory programming techniques
  • Identify and resolve client information and communications technology (ICT) issues
  • Contribute to cyber security risk management
  • Work within internet protocol (IP), ethics and privacy policies
  • Keep up with emerging technologies and trends
  • Build data-driven applications
  • Build basic mobile apps

According to research, there were 18.9 million software developers globally by the end of 2018. This number is expected to grow to 45 million by 2030.

  • Social media data harvesting and marketing automation
  • Progressive web app development

REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent

English Language Requirements:

Academic IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) 46 or equivalent

Or Completion of a TAFE NSW General English Program

Additional Requirements:

Applicants seeking direct entry into Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) are required to demonstrate the ability to apply language syntax and control structures to create code, use programming standards and test and debug codes. These can be demonstrated by:

Prior completion of Certificate III in Information Technology (including Programming units) or

Prior completion of other relevant qualifications or work experience.

These students may be required to attend an Interview. The interview will be conducted online using Microsoft Teams

Applicants who do not have the above stated qualification or experience will be required to study Certificate III in Information Technology as a pre-requisite and will be issued with a package offer.
