Our partnerships with Barwon Health, St John of God Hospital, and other healthcare providers also provide excellent work placement and employment opportunities.

This course is accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Upon completing your studies, you will be eligible to register as an enrolled nurse with the NMBA.

Work placement/industry experience

400 hours of work placement is required in this course, organised by The Gordon. You will complete 11 weeks of full-time placement, in 2-3 full-week blocks with a combination of both morning and afternoon shifts rostered. Placement may occur during semester break. You must obtain a current police check and a Working with Children Check prior to commencing your placement. The uniform is a Gordon shirt; blue pants and flat non-slip shoes should be worn. Please note that you may be required to travel outside of your usual training location to attend placement. This may include other regional areas or suburbs of Melbourne. Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the student. All applicants for this course must meet current health industry vaccination requirements prior to undertaking placement which is a requirement for completion of this course. Students are required to provide evidence of full vaccination status, including booster dose, as part of their placement documentation which is provided to placement facilities. Students that cannot provide valid evidence will not be able to complete placement and therefore unable to complete this course.
