COURSE DESCRIPTION

Learn from the latest evidence and best practice guidelines to provide high quality care for sick paediatric patients and their families.

The Specialist Certificate in Paediatric Critical Care Nursing is a 25 credit point, part-time, coursework program conducted over two terms. It consists of two core 12.5 credit point online subjects, NURS90076 Applied Pathophysiology and NURS90085 Foundations in Paediatric Critical Care.

You’ll apply scientific knowledge to the assessment and evaluation and across the continuum of care to understand common presentations and interventions in critically ill paediatric patients, identify appropriate treatment and nursing management strategies, and upskill to become a beginning level specialist nurse.

Further study

On completion of the course, you may be eligible to receive advanced standing toward the Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing.

Who is the course for

The program is targeted towards nurses who are beginning in the specialty of paediatric critical care nursing. The course is based on the latest evidence and best practice guidelines leading to high quality care for sick paediatric patients and their families.

This course will provide you with the specialty knowledge needed to advance your career in paediatric critical care. You will gain lifelong learning skills that facilitate knowledge and skill development as a specialty paediatric critical care clinician and the ability to undertake ongoing professional development in preparation for more advanced levels of specialty practice.

Further study

On completion of the course, graduates who are Registered Nurses may be eligible to receive 25 credit points of advanced standing toward the Graduate Certificate in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing.
