Over three years you will learn key outdoor skills while developing the ability to design, plan and implement safe outdoor programs.

The Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation is designed to meet a growing demand in Western Australia for qualified individuals within the fields of recreation, adventure tourism and eco-tourism by providing essential knowledge, practical skills and leadership opportunities.
Practical competence and professional standards are at the core of this program which provides students with extensive practical experience in outdoor leadership in an array of natural environments. Pursuits include white water kayaking, sea kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, bushwalking and mountain biking
Program learning outcomes
At the completion of this course, graduates should be able to:
- Demonstrate effective outdoor leadership knowledge and practices in a variety of settings with diverse sub populations.
- Evaluate, develop and apply technical, safety and environmental practices;
- Critically analyse and formulate instructional, organization and facilitation practices.
- Critically evaluate decision making, experience based judgment, problem solving, effective communication, flexible leadership and professional ethics.
- Apply research skills to update outdoor recreation related professional knowledge as a basis for independent lifelong learning.
- Plan, implement and evaluate expedition based programs.
- Exemplify professional standards in a variety of practical, interpersonal and theoretical contexts related to outdoor recreation and its associated fields.
- Articulate objective and universal truth, appreciate the intrinsic dignity of the human person, and exhibit good intellectual, moral and theological habits.

Professional accreditation
Notre Dame’s Outdoor Recreation course meets the accreditation requirements of the National Outdoor Leader Registration Scheme.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet High school qualifications (or equivalent) to apply for undergraduate program. Academic minimum entry requirements for international applicants vary from country to country.
IELTS (Academic) – 6.5 overall, with no writing score lower than 6.5 and no other individual band score lower than 6.0; CAE/CPE – 176 overall, with no score lower than 176 in writing and no other band score lower than 169; PTE Academic – 58 overall, with no score lower than 58 in writing and no other band score lower than 50; TOEFL (iBT) – 84 overall, with no score lower than 22 in writing and no other band score lower than 17.
