The Graduate Certificate in Finance is designed to provide you with a practical grounding in financial affairs.
Are you looking for a career in corporate banking and finance, stock-market trading, insurance, investment management and other areas of applied finance? UWA’s postgraduate courses in finance are designed to provide you with a practical grounding in financial affairs.
Course structure
Postgraduate coursework degrees and combined (coursework and research) degrees comprise a number of units.

Critically analyse and synthesise knowledge and provide solutions to complex finance problems;

Finance graduates are in demand across a range of industries such as consulting, corporate finance, financial planning, financial risk management, funds management, insurance, and investment banking.
Graduate Careers Australia lists the financial services industry as the fourth largest sector of the Australian economy, accounting for more than eight per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employing nearly 400,000 people.
Further Study
This course can serve as an entry point into the Master of Applied Finance or Master of Commerce (subject to students achieving a weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent).
REQUIREMENTS
(1) To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—(a) a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, including an Introductory Financial Accounting unit or equivalent, as recognised by UWA; and either:(b) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent; or(c) at least two years professional experience in a relevant occupation; or(2) significant work experience including at least 5 years with a material level of responsibility.
English language requirements:
TOEFL (paper-based): 570 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of no less than 4.5
IBT TOEFL (Internet-based test score): 82 with 22 for writing, 20 for speaking, 20 for listening, and 18 for reading
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band lower than 6.0)
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: C pass
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: B grade
Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic): Overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 64 in the Reading and Writing sections, 59 in the Speaking section and 54 in the Listening section
