COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.
At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.
Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.
This course includes a work placement of 200 hours to be completed within the course duration.

Pathways from the qualification
After Completing CHC52021 Diploma of Community Service, students may articulate into further study of the Advanced Diploma of Community Services or other Advanced Diploma level qualifications offered by any Australian RTO.
REQUIREMENTS
Be 18 years old or over
Must meet one of the following:
Certificate IV in Ageing Support or equivalent OR
Any certificate IV level qualification under AQF (LLN test is required if the applicant’s qualification is not in care or community service field) OR
Have the required language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills required by the course by participating in an LLN assessment, which is benchmarked against ACSF. OR
Have relevant experience in personal care/community service field for more than 2 years.
IELTS overall 5.5 or its equivalent (TOEFL/PTE/Cambridge English are acceptable) OR complete Australian ELICOS course at upper intermediate level OR complete any AQF certificate IV course (or above) taught in English, OR pass the UCA English placement test at upper intermediate level (at least 60 points out of 100) unless your nationality is the US, UK, New Zealand, Canada or Ireland.
Students must have a reasonable level of physical fitness as the role involves personal care that involves physically assisting clients such as bending and manual handling.
