COURSE DESCRIPTION
The demand for Accredited Exercise Physiologists in a variety of health environments is expanding rapidly. The Master of Exercise Physiology at the University of Newcastle is a unique, advanced and contemporary allied health program which aims to bring critical thinking and appraisal of evidence in exercise physiology and health practice to the forefront.
What you will study
The multidisciplinary courses embedded in the degree will allow you to develop advanced knowledge and skills in disease pathologies, principles of pharmacology and behaviour change allowing effective and holistic exercise interventions to be created.
Develop broad knowledge and be equipped with the practical competencies and critical problem-solving skills required for the management and treatment of a broad array of disease conditions through exercise prescription and delivery.
You will also have access to the new Exercise Physiology Clinic based on the Ourimbah campus. The Exercise Physiology Clinic will provide students with opportunities to develop their practical skills in a supervised setting to ensure students are prepared for external practicum and the workplace.

Exercise for Cardiopulmonary Diseases
Exercise for Neurological Conditions
Exercises for Cancer
Exercise and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
Human Pharmacology
Motivating Health Behaviour Change
Career opportunities
Exercise physiologists are employed in a wide range of health settings and serve the increasing needs of the ageing Australian population.
Graduates will develop the expertise to work as a self-employed Exercise Physiologist and/or contribute to a range of career options that require skills and knowledge in clinical exercise physiology, including government and private hospitals, aged care organisations, private practice Exercise Physiology clinics, and integrated health care settings.
Additional career opportunities include undertaking further research and/or education to further develop professional and advanced clinical skills.
