COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Master of Human Resource Management (Extension) provides students with the in-depth knowledge and skills necessary to contribute at a senior level to their organisation’s human resources and people management functions.

The course is designed primarily for individuals who are currently employed or show the potential for employment, at senior policy-making levels in the fields of human resource management, employment/industrial relations, diversity and inclusion and change management.

The core subjects provide foundational HRM knowledge as well as enhancing students’ academic literacy skills and knowledge of the business practice. The additional elective subject choices provide an opportunity to specialise more deeply in the human resource management discipline and to further enhance students’ skills, professional practice, specialist knowledge and capabilities.

Course aims

The course aims to provide leading-edge conceptual and practical understandings of human resource management in complex and unfamiliar workplace situations in order to facilitate management decision-making and ensure business literacy and career guidance.

Course structure

Students must complete a total of 96 credit points made up of 15 subjects, comprising twelve core subjects (72 credit points), two electives subjects (12 credit points), and either Industry Research Project or Internship Experience (12 credit points).

Careers

Career options include positions in change management and general management, human resources, organisational training and development, employment/industrial relations and in diversity and inclusion.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.

The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.
