Course summary
The Master of Computing (Data Analytics) is committed to developing the next generation of computing professionals who possess broad knowledge and a deep understanding of technical, managerial, and ethical aspects of computing practices. The data analytics specialisation has a focus on applying cutting edge technologies to deliver data driven insights and intelligence.
This degree is designed for both graduates with a computing background who wish to upskill, and graduates without a computing background who wish to enter the booming field of computing.
What you will study
You will study subjects in advanced programming, data management, Information systems, project management, data mining and big data, knowledge engineering, and cyber security. You will benefit from the curriculum that incorporates the university’s research strengths in artificial intelligence, cyber security, and data science.
This course enhances students’ work readiness skills by incorporating academic learning with practical application, with several subjects featuring embedded Work Integrated Learning.
You will complete an individual capstone project, where you will apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations and tackle real-world problems often provided by our industry partners.

The Master of Computing gives graduates the ability to solve complex real-world problems by integrating computer science methods with effective management strategies, and by developing and deploying computer applications.
The Data Analytics major will equip graduates with the knowledge and skills to analyse, design, develop, and manage complex computing solutions across a range of industries. On completion, you will be able to work in various roles to enable IT and data-driven innovation, including data analyst, big data specialist, data engineer, data architect, data systems developer, system analyst, software solution architect and developer.
