COURSE DESCRIPTION
Our Diploma of Community Services is perfect for those who have a passion for working with a community and helping disadvantaged individuals. This course provides you with the knowledge to be able to successfully develop and implement service programs, work in a multicultural environment and promote diversity, as well as facilitate workplace support processes. Throughout your study, you will be exposed to the different sectors available, helping to assist and guide you when it comes to choosing which type you would like to enter and work for in the future.
On completion of this course you will be able to assess the needs of a community and use strategies to find resources to best help communities to become dependent on themselves, as well as being knowledgeable when it comes to legal and ethical compliance.

Work-based Training
All students of the Diploma of Community Services undertake 120 hours in a work-based placement, linked to a number of units of competency in the Diploma. You would undertake the practical components of the course in the community services industry and work alongside qualified professionals and/or skilled workers.
Pathways/Articulation
Successful completion of this qualification provides you with a pathway into our Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or a range of other Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree qualifications. You may be able to receive exemptions from some subjects based on this qualification.
WAIFS also has an articulation pathway with Murdoch University which will allow students to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Community Development in 2 years instead of 3 years.
The level of articulation to other universities or RTOs may vary, so you should apply to the institute of your choice well in advance of completion of your qualification at WAIFS.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of Year 12 (or equivalent).
IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent).
