Overview
This online micro-credential outlines the nature of negotiation and the skills necessary for successful and effective negotiation in a business context. The micro-credential will examine the five principles established by Roger Fisher and William Ury’s classic text on negotiation, Getting to Yes, and outline the five principles of negotiation described by these authors. An exploration of the methods used by pragmatic negotiators will be provided including the mediation of conflict, the provision of supporting evidence to persuade others of your position, and the promotion of realistic expectations.
This online micro-credential provides a non-creditable micro-credential and digital badge which can be shared to your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.

Those requirements can include specific qualifications and subjects relevant to that course. However, there are also general university requirements that all international students must meet (including some country-specific requirements that students should fully research ahead of applying).The university entry requirements are different depending on the level the applicant is studying at. For undergraduate admission, students must have completed Australian Year 12 education or the equivalent in their home country/country of study. For a diploma, they must have completed the equivalent of Year 12 or have an AQF Certificate IV (or the equivalent).Whether they’re studying via the coursework pathway or the research pathway, postgraduate applicants will need previous university qualifications (usually at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject with the equivalent to the Australian pass grade in the final two exams). Research pathway applicants will also need to find a research supervisor.The student handbook is available on the CQU website for students to check the specific requirements for the course they wish to study. It is vital that students do this before applying to avoid disappointment, and it’s also a good place to find the list of equivalent qualifications for international applicants.English Score RequiredAs well as the right level of qualification, all international students will need to be able to prove they have a good understanding of the English language when they apply. All the courses at CQU are taught in English. There are general English language entry requirements, but some courses ask for different scores.The scores must be from the last two years, or they won’t be valid, and the university accepts several English language testing methods, including the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The required minimum scores for each test, at each level of study, are:Foundation/diploma level courses require an IELTS overall band score of 5.5 with no individual band scores below 5, or a TOEFL score of at least 65 with no individual section score below 15. Undergraduate/postgraduate coursework and study abroad courses require an IELTS overall band score of 6 with no individual band scores below 5.5, or a TOEFL score of at least 75 with no individual section score below 17.Postgraduate research courses including PhD pathway courses require an IELTS overall band score of 6 with no individual band scores below 5.5, or a TOEFL score of 79 with no individual section score below 21.There are some circumstances that will mean students won’t have to prove their English language skill. For example, if English is their first language or they previously studied at a school that teaches in English for at least four consecutive years. The university also has many English language centres to support students with their language skills.AdmissionTravelling to Australia as an international student can seem like a scary task. CQU aims to take that fear away and make it as easy as possible. The admission process is made simple by the university’s iStart function, and all international applicants are supported along the way.The iStart function guides applicants through the student admission process step by step. Once they’ve gained entry to the university, they’ll need to complete their enrolment at the university campus. They’ll also need a valid Australian study visa, which they can get once they have confirmation of enrolment.Processing times for visas can change depending on a student’s country of origin. The Department of Home Affairs in Australia suggests that students apply for a visa no later than six weeks before their studies begin. As well as a student visa, there is a range of supporting documentation that all international students will need to provide, including:Their valid passport Their student admission letterConfirmation of their enrolmentReceipts of their payments (usually of tuition fees or a bank statement)Their insurance policiesOriginal copies of their academic qualifications and transcriptsOther personal documents, such as an ID card and birth certificateAny of their medical records that are relevant/requestedTheir CAAW (if a student is under 18)The address of their desired accommodationTheir emergency contact detailsInternational students must have Overseas Student Health Cover for the whole time they are studying. This insures them and provides access to public hospitals and health services in Australia. Generally, the university prefers students to apply via Allianz Care Australia. Also, all international students are required to register as full fee-paying students for university admission. The fees for undergraduate and postgraduate studies can range from AUD 8,000 to AUD 36,000 per year.Scholarships & Funding CQU understands that studying and living in Australia can be expensive for international students, and it wants to make its institution as accessible to brilliant minds as possible. Every year, it spends AUD 20 million on scholarships, investing in students and helping them to cover fees. These university scholarships are brilliant opportunities for domestic and overseas CQU applicants/students.The biggest scholarship for overseas students is likely the International Student Scholarship. It’s available to all first-year international students at any level of study if they’re based at a CQU campus (and not studying online). No minimum GPA score is needed for students to be eligible. The award offers a waiver of 25 per cent on tuition fees. Students must apply and include all the necessary documents in their application, including academic transcripts.CQU also takes part in the Australia Awards Scholarships programme. These scholarships give funding support to students from poorer economic backgrounds, and they’re available to postgraduates and undergraduates. To keep receiving the scholarship annually once it’s been awarded, however, students will need to keep up a GPA of 4 in each unit.Some awards and grants are offered by the Australian government, like the Destination Australia awards and the Research Training Programme (RTP) Stipend Scholarship. A Destination Australia scholarship is available to any new student studying and living in regional Australia, and it covers funding of AUD 15,000 each academic year.
