COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Associate Degree of Business (Management) is embedded in the Bachelor of Business (Management) and has been designed as an exit qualification. It prepares students with the skills needed for paraprofessional of management and office administration roles in any business and further study at the bachelor level. The course provides students with a broad general education focusing on developing students’ knowledge and skills in business administration and management. Students are required to study nine core units which include Academic Skills for Success; Marketing Foundations; Business Communication and Stakeholder Management; Accounting for Managers; Principles of Management and Organisations; Foundations of Information Technology; Business and Corporations Law; Statistical Data Analysis for Business; and Leadership and Evidence-based Business Decision Making. These core units are enhanced with seven specialised management units which brings together the sub-disciplines of people and organisations, global business and data analysis. Some of the higher level units are generic, including those dealing with operational, law and leadership. Others develop a theme-based approach considering issues around globalisation and human resource management. Students select two electives out of a pool of units to complement the core and specialised units. These studies are designed to produce graduates who have effective and industry relevant knowledge and skills and who demonstrate capabilities for leadership in the business area. Structure To complete the associate degree, you will need to pass 16 Units. These Units are divided into two levels based on contents and level of difficulty. The first level (Level 1000) has 6 core units and 2 specialisation units. The second level (2000) has 3 core units and 3 specialisation units. In addition, you will get to select 2 electives. REQUIREMENTS

International students must provide evidence of the following to demonstrate they have successfully met the educational entry requirements: Successful completion of Year 12 at the credit or above level as determined in Student Admission Policy (Appendix 1); or Recognised Foundation Studies course; or Successful completion of one year of accredited tertiary study at an Australian institution**; or Successful completion of Certificate IV in a related discipline or above**; or International Baccalaureate with a score of 24. If a student starts undergrad studies with another provider in Australia, they must meet the criteria and maintain satisfactory course progression. If progress is unsatisfactory, they might be offered a place through the Student at Risk program. English language equivalence requirements* For students whose secondary education was conducted in a language other than English: IELTS overall band score: 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent (Refer to Appendix 2); or English for Academic Purposes Certificate of Proficiency from an Institute’s approved ELICOS provider.
