With a double degree in a Bachelor of Arts/ Bachelor of Business you’ll be set to become a well-rounded businessperson who understands what’s good for the world.
Build your business, management, and operations knowledge so you’re ready to make your mark on the business world. Then go deeper, hone your critical thinking and communication skill set as you explore key global social, economic and cultural issues impacting the operation of contemporary society.
With this combination of degrees – you’ll be rich in transferable skills essential for the future workforce. You’ll learn how to become an entrepreneurial thinker and innovator and find a wealth of diverse career opportunities across corporations, government and not-for-profits, to small business and start-ups.

Course structure
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Business requires students to complete units of study to the value of 400 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.
Course learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Business, graduates will be able to:
- systematically review and critically evaluate research from a variety of sources to inform their knowledge, judgement and conceptual understandings when innovatively solving a range of problems in the humanities, social sciences and business contexts
- critically analyse information to generate creative solutions to solve complex problems in the area of humanities and/or social sciences, and understand the importance of interdisciplinarity for generating solutions
- formulate creative solutions that are fit for purpose and demonstrate cognisance of the impact of business decisions on the triple bottom line
- formulate and communicate a range of arguments that are fit for purpose and demonstrate an understanding of the relevant theories and evidence in their areas of disciplinary expertise, through evaluation and communication strategies.
- interpret and communicate ideas, problems and arguments in modes suitable to a range of audiences using a range of media
- apply knowledge and skills with responsibility and accountability for their own learning and practice, individually and in collaboration with others
- build on and continuously develop the intellectual independence to be critical and reflective learners, cognisant of new technologies
- coherently articulate a line of reasoning demonstrating cultural sensitivity and apply a framework to analyse and offer solutions to ethical dilemmas
- define and integrate theoretical principles and apply these to their disciplinary areas of expertise within a range of practices.
REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory completion of one of the following: successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification; completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including Certificates IV (completed), diplomas, advanced diplomas, associate degrees and degrees).
English language requirements
Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 65%, all skills 65%
- minimum IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based) – 64 (no less than 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 18 in speaking, 21 in writing)
- Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no communicative skills less than 50)
- C1 Advanced: 169, no band less than 169
- any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
