COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance form others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems. This qualification providers a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafes, and coffee shops, or to run a small business in these sectors.

This includes 48 service periods in a commercial kitchen where you will gain the skills to work as a chef or chef de partie.

Mode of study: Practical sessions, face-to-face workshops and self-paced workbooks

Pathway: Upon completion of this qualification, students can continue their studies with a SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management

REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must be over 18 years of age

Academic equivalent – Year 10+ (Certificate IV and Diploma)/ Year 12+ (Advanced Diploma)

Upper Intermediate English Skills

Literacy Language and Numeracy Test designed by GIC

IELTS 6.0+ (if required)
