COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals establishing or operating a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation. These individuals use well developed skills and a broad knowledge base to solve a range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have responsibility for the output of others.

DELIVERY APPROACH AND MODE

The delivery approach of this course is based on a timetable of 20 hours per week. The mode of delivery and assessment of this course may include lectures, group workshops, presentations, practical activities, some self-directed learning as well as research reports. These components will be supported by blended learning methodologies, face to face classroom-based learning and/or a flexible approach with online learning.

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT

A variety of methods are incorporated into the course to accommodate different learning styles. These include project work, reports, portfolio development as well as individual presentations.

PATHWAYS

After achieving the Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business, candidates may undertake a Diploma of Business.

COURSE DURATION

Up to 26 weeks (including holidays).

COURSE STRUCTURE

To attain a Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business, competency in the following 10 units must be achieved:

  • BSBSTR401 Promote innovation in team environments
  • BSBESB401 Research and develop business plans
  • BSBTEC404 Use digital technologies to collaborate in a work environment
  • BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs
  • BSBESB403 Plan finances for new business ventures
  • BSBESB301 Investigate business opportunities
  • BSBESB302 Develop and present business proposals
  • BSBESB404 Market new business ventures
  • BSBESB402 Establish legal and risk management requirements of new business ventures
  • BSBSUS411 Implement and monitor environmental work practices

REQUIREMENTS

Year 12 or equivalent literacy and numeracy levels. Students must be 18 years of age or over. Upper intermediate English language proficiency is required for International students.
